Exeter Flying Post, Wrestling prize results: Wreford vs Frost (1826)
WRESTLING.—The prize of ten Sovereigns for the thrown men at the Exeter Wrestling last week, was won,—the first prize of four Sovereigns by Mr. Wreford; the second of two Sovereigns by J. Bolt; and the third of one Sovereign by Horwill.—James Frost of Aveton Gifford, appeared in the ring, at the close of the play from St. Sidwell’s, and his strength and capabilities being well known, a match was made for a subscription purse of £22, the best of three falls, between him and Wreford, perhaps tougher play was scarcely ever seen, both being prime men—the odds were won by Wreford, who threw his opponent in the first and third turns.
