Exeter Flying Post, Devonport match: final preparations and prime men announced (1826)
WRESTLING.— Grand Match between the Champions at Devonport.—Expectation is wound to its highest pitch for the issue of this match, and the numbers preparing to move towards Devonport from both counties are very great; the Devonporters have entered into the business with an energy that reflects on them the highest credit, and we can most positively state that the match between the Champions will be immediately followed by one of the crackest Wrestlings ever witnessed, between ten or twelve from each county, as many as can be procured, out of the primest men Devon and Cornwall can produce. For this purpose an express has been specially sent, by the gentlemen who undertake the management in this city for Devonshire, to all the principal Wrestlers in the County—the same has been done by the gentlemen of that county, and we can add that the treatment of the Wrestlers, will be of the most hospitable description, and the Purse, in weight, will speak all thanks in itself.
