Exeter Flying Post, Eagle Tavern: Moyle vs Head, Devon fashion (1826)
WRESTLING.—MOYLE AND HEAD.—Moyle the Cornwall man, wrestled his match with Head, the Devonshire man, on Thursday evening, at the Eagle Tavern, City-road. They both played Devonshire fashion, and for that purpose were padded. Moyle was the favourite at starting, and justified the confidence of his friends. The match was to be decided by the first two falls in three, both of which were won with ease by Moyle. Head was the heavier man of the two, but he wanted activity, and could not withstand Moyle’s in-play, who is certainly one of the best of the light weights now in London.—After the match was concluded, the Chairman of the Cornwall Committee offered to back Cayzer, a Cornwall man, weighing 11 stone, to wrestle any man of the same weight in Cornwall manner, for 100 sovereigns.
