  • Devon Wrestling Exeter Severe play

EXETER GRAND WRESTLING MATCH. This match was resumed yesterday at three o’clock. The first men called in Class B were Atkins (Exeter) and Skinner (St. Austell). The former was thrown in 20 minutes. Pike (London) and Burley (Exeter) were then matched in Class A. Pike threw Burley in 10 minutes. Oliver and Back (Class A) were then called. Oliver was well thrown in 39 minutes.

The next was that in which Pike and Milton eclipsed all the former players; they showed they were thoroughly determined to win the day, if pluck, strength, and science could do it. Milton threw Pike a fine fall in 45 minutes. Capt. Back threw Westlake a fine fall in 18 minutes. In Class A James and Skinner played a fine bout for 37 minutes; the former won. James also threw Chapel in 53 minutes. Play will be resumed this day at 3 o’clock.
