Wrestling.—Devon and Cornwall—The friends of this manly sport were gratified by the sight of some first-rate play at Copenhagen House, on Easter Monday and Tuesday. Notwithstanding the unfavourable state of the weather, Mr. Garratt, the proprietor, gave the annual treat. The play was under the judicious management of Mr. F. Oliver. Upwards of fifty of the prime champions of both counties were present.

Standards.—First Round.—Kirby (C) threw Rowe (C); Dyer (C) threw Webber (D); Lockyer (D) threw Goodman (L); Pierce (C) threw Linton (D); Rattenbury (D) threw Petherbridge (D). Fourth Round—Lockyer threw Pierce, and won the first prize. Pierce taking the second, Gloyne third, Dyer fourth, and Bartle the fifth.

Lockyer (a Guardsman) gave the gigantic Gloyne a beautiful back fall, after which Lockyer had to meet Pierce, a young man whose wrestling had been greatly admired throughout the play, for the first prize. Lockyer’s weight is 13st., and Pierce’s 9st. 12lb.
