  • Abraham Cann Cann-vs-Polkinghorne Cornwall vs Devon London Wrestling Polkinghorne

WRESTLING.—The Tavistock Games.—A statement more entirely opposed to what really took place at Tavistock, was perhaps scarcely ever attempted to be palmed on the public. Polkinhorn was on the spot, and certainly no good reason was assigned why he did not meet Cann in the ring;—there stood his opponent before him. Cann again kept the ring, and bore before Polkinhorn’s face carried off the first prize. Matches are made in London between Copp, from Devonshire, and Gaffney, an Irishman, £60. to £50, to be played to-morrow at the Golden Eagle, Mile-end-road, the best in five falls side and back. The Devon men meet at the Eagle, in the City-road; and the Cornish at the Wellington, at Chelsea. Cann intends to be in attendance.
