Bragg and Chamberlain.

The annual wrestling match, organised by Mr. Stone, of Crediton, has brought together this year not only a large number of spectators, but many noted men of the wrestling fraternity, amongst them being Greenslade, Burrows (Guernsey, ) Drew ( Colebrooke, ) Bragg ( Plymouth, ) Bond (light weight, ) Pitman, Wreford, and Chamberlain.

The play on Saturday was principally confined to making standards, bat three couples who engaged in double play shewed some good work, especially Pitman and Bond.

On Monday, however, Bragg and Chamberlain entered the ring, and for twenty minutes shewed wrestling in its finest form.

In the fourth round Bragg caught his opponent by the lock but his attempt was cleverly foiled by the science of Chamberlain. Bragg, nothing daunted, again got his hold, and if there had not been a slip of the jacket the result must have been a flying mare ; this being against the rules, he was cautioned. Chamberlain now took the lead in the play, but his attempt was frustrated; his opponent, making for the fore-hip, converted his hold into an unmistakable back.
